Deuteronomy Paul tells us that to sacrifice our body to God is "our spiritual act of worship" (Romans - KJV has "reasonable act of service") The word translated "worship" literally means service as a hired servant.
It also came to mean service to God in a religious ceremony. Total commitment is the foundation of our relationship with God.
Commitment is sometimes stated explicitly, other times implicitly. In the latter case, the statement would make sense only in relation to commitment. If you remove the element of commitment from it, the sentence would lose its meaning.
God works everything to our good if we cooperate with Him. St Paul wrote, “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. When we examine the words one by one they actually cause us to pause and consider whether we are actually doing our best to live committed lives unto God. For instance are we truly: Dedicated; Devoted; Giving our all; Pulling out all stops. Only we and God know the true answers.
Sometimes people can be dedicated to a cause, an assignment, to actually helping someone through a crisis and once that is. Being holy, comes from an attitude of the heart toward our relationship in our lives to God.
Being holy is to be dedicated to the Lord. If we truly make the commitment to live for the Lord we will seek to do what is necessary to carry it out. God uses suffering to purge sin from our lives, strengthen our commitment to him, force us to depend on his grace, bind us together with other believers, produce discernment, foster sensitivity, discipline our minds, impart wisdom, stretch our hope, cause us to know Christ better, make us long for truth, lead us to repentance of sin, teach us.
